The return of La Rouille

A few months ago, he created a mural at the back of one of the oldest houses in Languédias’s Vieux Bourg. Like Buddhists mandalas, this ephemeral work will eventually disappear beneath the renovation of these buildings, which have been purchased by the municipality and will be given a new lease of life once restored.
Our village clearly seems to inspire him, as he has now turned his attention to the Houx quarry, once again leaving his mark there.
A self-taught artist, La Rouille discovered painting while exploring abandoned sites. Drawn to  the distinctive atmosphere of places left behind by human activity, his work focuses on the deterioration caused by history and the passage of time, both in physical terms and in the realm of memory. For a brief moment, his figures bring these forgotten places back to life.
